The admissions process of the Graduate School are clearly defined and explicitly articulated in a step-by-step approach. This process is also documented and communicated to prospective students in the application package and explained in personal interviews.

The Admissions process of the Graduate School is generally conducted along the following lines:

  1. Once interest is demonstrated in attending the school and a prospective applicant is documented, a letter along with an application package is given to the prospective candidate either via email or available for pick up.
  2. A follow up call is made to assist with any other information that might be needed to guide the prospective student through the application process.
  3. Prospective students who indicate a commitment to enroll at CGST are further assisted through a carefully designed step-by-step process, as outlined below.

Step 1

In making an application to enter the Graduate School, applicants are required to complete and submit an application form, along with the following accompanying documents:

  • Recommendations from their current Pastor, an Employer/Professional Peer and an Academic Advisor.
  • A written Statement of Purpose of one [1] to two [2] pages in length. The Statement should include their Faith experience, if any, current ministry involvement, if any, and why attending CGST will be helpful in fulfilling God’s calling upon their life.
  • Academic transcripts
  • Health records
  • Two passport-size photographs

Step 2

Once all the relevant documents are submitted, the file is initially reviewed to determine if it can move to the next part of the admissions process. If so, an interview is set with the Head of Department to which the prospective student has applied. This requirement is integral to the assessment of the applicant’s suitability to join the program applied for.

Step 3

If the applicant is successful in the interview, the Department Head recommends the type of acceptance a student will obtain and the relevant letter of acceptance is sent to the applicant. Table 14 demonstrates the types of admissions decisions a potential applicant can receive

Step 4

The successful applicant is then invited to the New Student Orientation which is held several weeks before the new academic year begins.

It is believed that as students are introduced to the overall ethos, culture and processes of the Institution, their time spent at the Graduate school will be enhanced. The New Student Orientation exercise includes the following activities

  • A Devotional Exercise
  • Welcome from President
  • An Introduction to the schools ethos, i.e., values, mission, vision
  • Introduction to Academic Affairs by the Academic Dean
  • Introduction to the Library services, policies and procedures
  • Overview of the financial policies and arrangements
  • An ID Photo Session
  • A Departmental Orientation which includes:
    • Meeting with Head of Department
    • Registration for Classes
    • Payment of requisite tuition and fees.

Step 5

If all 4 previous steps are successfully completed, the student is now ready for class attendance.
