Inter Disciplinary Studies Programme Print

The M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed principally for individuals desiring a balanced programme of graduate study with a strong multi-disciplinary foundation combined with an area of major.

 

The programme will enable the graduate to function effectively in the church and society. Candidates for this programme need to have secured a baccalaureate degree for matriculation but prior theological training is not a prerequisite for the programme.

 

It is a non-thesis and interdisciplinary programme which integrates such fields as Biblical and Theological Studies, Christian Education, Intercultural Studies, Leadership and Management, and Guidance and Counselling.

 

The areas of major are listed below and include:

  • Leadership and Management,
  • Intercultural Studies,
  • Christian Education and
  • Guidance and Counselling.
 

 

The M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies is a two-year programme requiring the completion of nineteen (19) courses and an internship of one hundred and fifty (150) hours.

 

The programme is made up of eleven (11) core courses:

  • New Testament Introduction & Literature

  • Old Testament Introduction & Literature

  • Contemporary Third World Theologies

  • New Testament Theology
  • Old Testament Theology

  • Theology of Missions or IDS 501 Caribbean

    Evangelism

  • Adult Christian Education or CE 507 History and Philosophy of Christian Education

  • Basic Skills in Counselling

  • Marriage and Family Counselling

  • Caribbean Family Life

  • Caribbean Thought and Culture


and eight (8) additional courses which constitute the area of major.
